I’m a wife, a mom of 4 boys, and a parent coach.
When I became a mom it wasn’t what I expected at all. From the time my first son was born I had a hard (not just because I was sleep deprived). I was just angry and impatient with him. Then my other 3 came and I felt like I was getting worse.
My kids deserve a mom that is present, that is calmer, more patient and treats them how they should be treated.
I tried so hard to do it on my own. I would tell myself, “I’m going to be better tomorrow.” But, the next day was like groundhog day, same shit different day.
I would think, “what is wrong with me? Why can’t I change?” I was at my max with myself, my max with my kids not listening, being sneaky, laughing when I was yelling at them like they didn’t give a shit. NOTHING was working!
The smallest things would make me lose my shit. I was not me.
I knew if things weren’t going to change, our relationship wasn’t going to be how I wanted it to be.
It wasn’t going to be what they needed.
I wanted them to look back at their childhood and remember how great it was. I didn’t want them to have to heal from their childhood like I did.
I learned how to understand myself and why I couldn’t seem to change. To know how to have a healthy relationship with them.
I went through all of this and all the messing up, guilt, self doubt, wondering if I was even able to make things change, to being closer to my kids than I ever thought possible.
They know they have someone that they can come to any time they need and feel supported. We built trust and connection.
